Ethiopian Airlines has announced the commencement of a second daily flight from Lagos starting July 1, 2025, offering Nigerian travellers enhanced connectivity, more baggage allowance, and loyalty rewards.
The new service will increase the airline’s weekly frequency to 14 flights out of Lagos, giving passengers more flexible travel options to destinations across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and beyond. The additional flights will also offer immediate connections from Addis Ababa, reducing total travel time significantly.
Speaking on the development, the Area Manager for Ethiopian Airlines in Nigeria, Mrs. Firiehiwot Mekonnen, said:
> “We are offering these extra benefits to reward our loyal passengers as we offer more flights and options out of Lagos. These extra flights help us improve service delivery and reduce costs for travellers. Most of our passengers will now arrive at their destinations faster.”
Passengers travelling to Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai (Madras), and Dubai will enjoy extra baggage allowance, while all passengers can benefit from double miles on the airline’s ShebaMiles loyalty programme.
The new flight schedule includes four evening departures at 10:00 p.m. (ET 902), arriving Addis Ababa at 5:20 a.m., ideal for connecting to destinations such as Dubai (DXB), Tel Aviv (TLV), São Paulo (GRU) and other African cities. Another three flights will depart Lagos at 5:40 a.m. (ET 904), arriving Addis Ababa at 1:00 p.m., ensuring seamless connections to key markets including India, Turkey, Greece, Tanzania, and Italy.
The midday flights from Lagos remain unchanged.
Ethiopian Airlines, which has been operating in Nigeria since 1960, continues to serve the market with modern aircraft such as the A350-1000 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner, connecting Lagos to over 140 international destinations.
