Ethiopian Airlines proudly marks its 80th anniversary, celebrating eight decades of connecting Africa to the world and setting the standard for aviation excellence.
From its first flight on April 8, 1946, departing Addis Ababa for Cairo aboard a Douglas C-47, the airline has grown from a humble beginning to a global aviation leader serving 144 destinations with over 140 modern aircraft.
Ethiopian Airlines Group now encompasses passenger and cargo services, ground operations, MRO, Ethiopian Airports, Ethiopian Aviation University, in-flight catering, and the Ethiopian Skylight Hotel, reflecting its status as Africa’s leading aviation ecosystem.“
