Rugby School Nigeria Unveils Plans for Premier Educational Hub

Rugby School Nigeria, the newest international branch of the prestigious Rugby School UK, has officially launched its plans to open in Lagos. The highly anticipated event took place on March 19, 2025, at the British Deputy High Commissioner’s residence in Lagos, attracting over 100 distinguished guests, including key stakeholders from the diplomatic community, education sector, and local leadership.

The event marked a major milestone for both Rugby School and Nigeria, showcasing the school’s commitment to fostering global excellence in education. Rugby School Nigeria is set to open its doors in September 2025 in the dynamic Eko Atlantic City, Lagos, a thriving hub that symbolizes Nigeria’s ambition and innovation.

In his keynote address, British Deputy High Commissioner Mr. Jonny Baxter emphasized the importance of the institution, saying, “Rugby School Nigeria exemplifies one of the best examples of UK-Nigeria collaboration, bringing a world-class British educational institution to the heart of Lagos. Situated in Eko Atlantic City, a symbol of Nigeria’s ambition, this school will shape future leaders in a rapidly evolving global landscape.”

Initially, Rugby School Nigeria will welcome Sixth Form students (ages 16-18) in September 2025. Boarding facilities are set to be available from September 2026, while the Senior School (ages 11-16) is slated to open in September 2026. The school will offer a broad, engaging curriculum designed to prepare students for IGCSEs, A-Levels, and a successful academic future.

Dr. Adam England, the Founding Principal of Rugby School Nigeria, shared his excitement about the school’s educational philosophy. “Rugby School Nigeria will offer an exceptional education that nurtures both intellectual growth and character development,” he said. “Our approach is based on Rugby School UK’s ‘Whole Person, Whole Point’ philosophy, which ensures students not only excel academically but grow as leaders, engaged community members, and well-rounded individuals.”
